錦秋湖 Kinshuu-ko Lake Kinshu

Jp En

Lake Kinshu located between the cities of Kitakami and Yokote is a manmade lake created in 1964, when Yuda Dam was built on the Waga River for the flood control of the Kitakami River. The autumnal foliage reflected on the surface of the lake is so brilliant that people began to call it “Kinshu (the brocade of autumn).” Visitors can enjoy wonderful nature surrounding the lake and different faces of the lake that vary with the water level change. Lake Kinshu Marathon Race in May is a popular event where the participants can fully enjoy fresh green around the lake. On the eve of the marathon race, Lake Kinshu Festival is held and a lot of people come to enjoy the fireworks display. The gorgeous fireworks reflected on the surface of the lake are really beautiful. The upstream of the dam is a popular fishing spot for sweetfish.
