鹿目の滝 Shikameno-taki The Kaname Waterfall
|
The Kaname Waterfall is located in the upstream of the Kaname River, one of the tributary of the Kumagawa River, which runs through in the southern part of Kumamoto Pref. The waterfall actually consists of the three waterfalls of Odaki (male waterfall), Medaki (female waterfall) and Hirataki (flat waterfall). The most dynamic one is the cataract type Odaki Waterfall with the height of 36 meters. It rushes down with force on the columnar joints of andesite cliff. The Medaki Waterfall by contrast runs down gently. The Hirataki Water fall flows slowly over the slope made of the debris of thin rocks. It is also a gentle and beautiful waterfall. The Kaname Water fall is selected one of Japan’s 100 Fine Waterfalls.
