|
Donzurubo is a scenic hill located on Anamushi Pass to the northwest of Mt. Nijyo in Anamushi, Kashiba City, Nara Pref. The hill is at an altitude of 70 m. White bare rock created with the accumulation of volcanic ashes of Mt. Nijo about 15,000 years ago spread all over the hill. Since the rocks look as if cranes are gathering, it is called “Don (gathering) zuru (cranes) bo (peak).” In the old days, emery sand was mined at the foot of the peak. Donzurubo is designated as a prefectural national treasure as the precious place to study ground formation and plant ecology. If you visit the hill for the first time, you will marvel at the dazzling whiteness of the rocks. Donzurubo is a scenic spot where you will perceive the natural wonder.
