大釜の滝 Oogama-no-taki Ogama Waterfall
|
Ogama Waterfall is located near Naka, in Tokushima Prefecture and was, in April 1990, designated as one of the 100 major waterfalls in Japan.
It is in Kamagaya Basin. The Kamagaya River is a branch of the Naka River and runs from Mt. Souun (1,496m). The head of the waterfall is 20 meter high, and has an abundance of water. The basin of the waterfall is 15 meters deep and legend has it that a giant serpent lives there.
The various big and small waterfalls, standing pools and colorful rocks over which the water flows make a wonderful sight.
The banks that spread out for 100 meters on either side are just like folding screens. Old trees such as fir and hemlock seem to plunge into the river, their tops trembling. The noble, glorious nature lets us forget our everyday lives.
The waterfall can be seen from Route 193, and is easily accessible by car. In addition, there is an observation spot by the road. This waterfall is appealing because it is so easy to gain views of it
