十和田湖 Towadako Lake Towada
|
Lake Towada is situated in the northern part of Towada Hachimantai National Park. It is a typical double caldera lake celebrated for its scenery. The outer rim (the first caldera) of the lake is thought to have been formed by the sinking due to the eruption of Towada Volcano about 30,000 years ago. With seasonal beauty reflected on the surface of the water, Lake Towada is one of the famous sightseeing spots in Tohoku region. The most popular sightseeing course is the lake cruise on an excursion boat. The two cruise courses, which starts from Nenokuchi and ends at Yasumiya via Naka-no-umi (Middle Lake) and the other of which goes to and fro Yasumiya via Naka-no-umi are popular, provide many boat services a day. Either of them is about an hour cruise. You can enjoy the varied scenes including Naka-no-umi, which is deepest part of the lake, the 200-meter bluff of Senjomaku, dynamic view of Ogura Peninsula and feminine delicacy of Nakayama Peninsula.
