暁嵐の滝 Gyouran-no-taki The Gyoran Waterfall

The Gyoran Waterfall in Gyoran Park located in Kamiura Town, Saiki City, Oita Pref. is selected as one of 100 Scenic Beauty of Oita Pref. This waterfall with a height of 15 m is known for the waterfall that is located close to the sea, which is very rare in Japan. In the summer, neighborhood children gather together to enjoy swimming in the clear stream of water. The steep cliff around the waterfall is known as a treasure box of various rock plants, which are prefecturally designated as Natural Protected Species of “Rock Plants at the Gyoran Waterfall.” A very old shrine of Takimihara Shrine, which was established in the Kamakura period (1192-1333), is also located in Gyoran Park. The stone garden that was built after a model of the garden at Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto and a promenade with a length of 1 km are arranged inside the park. From the observation tower, you can command a panoramic view of Azamui-ura Town and Saiki Bay.
