佐賀市歴史民俗館 Sagashi-rekishi-minzokukan Rekishi Minzoku Kan of Saga City
|
Rekishi Minzoku Kan (Museum of History and Folk Culture) of Saga City is the district where historic buildings of the Meiji period and the Taisho period were removed. They are all restored and open to public. The buildings are on the Old Nagasaki Kaido Road and full of “modernism” of those days. You may feel as if you went back to those old days and stood in the bustle of the street. One of them is Western-style Old Koga Bank Building covered with brick tiles, which conveys the atmosphere of Taisho Romanticism. Old Ushijima House was the oldest town house that had been located in the old castle town of Saga Castle. Old Sansei Bank Building shows the atmosphere of the early Meiji period, and Old Fukuda House in the modern Japanese style of the Taisho period was built with every possible luxury. Each of them shows the essence of the architecture style of the period. Each and all is indeed worth seeing.
