Nihonmatsu Chrysanthemum Doll Show held in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Pref. is the largest chrysanthemum festival in Japan. There have been a lot of chrysanthemum enthusiasts in this city since the Edo period and chrysanthemum dolls came to decorate the towns in the early Showa period. In 1955, chrysanthemum doll show started to be held in a large scale at Kasumigajo Castle. The show is annually held from October 1 to November 23. About 130 chrysanthemum dolls, expressing the famous scenes in historical events or Taiga Dramas, are place on the show. The number of chrysanthemum used for the dolls is as many as 30,000 stocks. The dolls together with beautiful autumn leaves in Kasumigajo Park fascinate over 200,000 visitors every year. The show is becoming more and more gorgeous every year. It is an absolutely gorgeous and luxuriant festival.
