"Ban Romu Sai", located in Changmai, Northern Thailand, is a home for orphaned children who lost theirparents to HIV and are infected with the virus themselves. "Ban Romu Sai", means "Under the Banyan Tree" while its formal English name is Banyan Home Foundation. With permission from the Thai government, the home became an incorporated foundation and there are currently about 30 children living there. "I want the children to find out what they are good at and be able to make a living doing it", says Miwa Natori, who is a founder and executive director of the home. The educational program of the home reflects her policy and allows the children to experience many different fields of study including painting, pottery, dance, various sports and computers. All of the programs are supported by Thai and Japanese volunteers. With the aim of becoming more financially independent, the home began producing and selling original goods such as clothes and other products using cloth made by dyeing with plants or flowers, woven, or sewing. The home also runs a guest house on their premises.
